How do I represent on a new licence application?

New applications for a licence

Correspondence can be sent to the Licensing Authority in support of any application or If you feel you are likely to be adversely affected by any application made for a licence.

If you wish to make a representation or offer support to any application you can do so in writing to the licensing authority:

All correspondence must contain your full name and address and detail your points clearly, providing any evidence you may have in support of your comments.

These representations must be received by the licensing authority before the end date of the representation period for the application as shown in the application details below.

Please be aware if you make a representation that this will be in the public domain and that at the end of the representation period, the applicant will receive a copy of all representations made.

Following the receipt of a valid representation, applications may be determined by the licensing committee at a hearing.

What new Licensing Act 2003 applications have been made?

New applications for a premises licence/club premises certificate

Have applied for a licence for Films (indoors), Indoor sporting events, recorded music (on an off the premises) Monday-Sunday 11:00-01:30, Live music and entertainment of a similar description to that falling within live music, recorded music or performance of dance, Saturday 11:00-23:30, late night refreshment (on and off the premises) Monday-Sunday 23:00-01:30 and sale of alcohol (on and off the premises) Monday-Sunday 11:00-01:30. 

Seasonal variation 11:00 New Years Eve to 02:00 on the 2 January.

None standard timings, 1 additional hour before the start and end of any internationally live broadcast sporting event involving a Great British or UK team.

Applications to vary an existing premises licence/club premises certificate

Have applied by minor variation to vary the premises plan.

Have applied to vary the licence to: Extend the hours for sale of the alcohol and premise opening hours between 21 November and 30 December each year to 23.00 hours each day. On the 31 December hours would be extended until 23.59 hours.

Premises Licences under the Gambling Act 2005

If you feel you are likely to be affected by any application made for a premises licence, because you feel the granting of such a licence will undermine any of the below-licensing objectives you can lodge your concerns to the Licensing Authority.  

  • Preventing gambling from being associated with crime or disorder or being used to support crime
  • Ensuring gambling is conducted in a fair and open way
  • Protecting children and other vulnerable persons from being harmed or exploited through gambling.

The Licensing Authority cannot accept any representations on moral grounds or any which are vexatious or frivolous.

Representations must be received before the end of the 28-day representation period specified above.
