How do I represent on a new licence application?

New applications for a licence

Correspondence can be sent to the Licensing Authority in support of any application or If you feel you are likely to be adversely affected by any application made for a licence.

If you wish to make a representation or offer support to any application you can do so in writing to the licensing authority:

All correspondence must contain your full name and address and detail your points clearly, providing any evidence you may have in support of your comments.

These representations must be received by the licensing authority before the end date of the representation period for the application as shown in the application details below.

Please be aware if you make a representation that this will be in the public domain and that at the end of the representation period, the applicant will receive a copy of all representations made.

Following the receipt of a valid representation, applications may be determined by the licensing committee at a hearing.

What new Licensing Act 2003 applications have been made?

New applications for a premises licence/club premises certificate

Have applied for sale of alcohol Monday - Sunday 10:00 - 01:00 (on and off the premises) and late night refreshment Monday - Sunday 23:00 - 01:00 (indoors only).

How can I represent on Licensing Act 2003 applications?

New applications for a premises licence/club premises certificate

  • Prevention of crime and disorder
  • Protection of children from harm
  • Public safety
  • Prevention of public nuisance.

How can I represent on Gambling Act 2005 applications?

Premises Licences under the Gambling Act 2005

If you feel you are likely to be affected by any application made for a premises licence, because you feel the granting of such a licence will undermine any of the below-licensing objectives you can lodge your concerns to the Licensing Authority.  

  • Preventing gambling from being associated with crime or disorder or being used to support crime
  • Ensuring gambling is conducted in a fair and open way
  • Protecting children and other vulnerable persons from being harmed or exploited through gambling.

The Licensing Authority cannot accept any representations on moral grounds or any which are vexatious or frivolous.

Representations must be received before the end of the 28-day representation period specified above.

Please be aware if you make a representation that this will be in the public domain and that at the end of the representation period, the applicant will receive a copy of all representations made although your name and address can be withheld if requested.
