Information about help available to get to work, who can access the help, how much does it cost and how to contact wheels for work.
Wheels to work is a scooter loan scheme to help people aged 16 years or older, living in rural areas get to work or training. Wheels to Work provides you with a scooter or moped for up to a year. If you are eligible we will provide you with a 50cc or 125cc scooter. You'll also get a high vis jacket, helmet and gloves.
You may be eligible for wheels to work if you are working or are in training for 16 hours plus per week and public transport isn't suitable. Normally you'd be travelling between 3 and 20 miles per day and live in the East Riding.
Online applications are our preferred method:
Apply for the wheels to work scheme (opens in new window)
However, if you think you need more help to apply you can ask at your local Jobcentre or East Riding of Yorkshire Council customer service centre where an adviser will be able to help you with the online application process.
When you apply for the scheme you will need to have to hand your driving licence (provisional as a minimum) and CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) certificate (if applicable).

Everyone joining the scheme must pay a £115 start up fee which includes a £65 refundable deposit as a bond for accidental damage. You will be required to pay a monthly rental charge from £55 to cover rental fees, insurance, tax and servicing. You must pay by direct debit.
