Language and alternative formats
We want to make our services accessible to everyone. We understand English is not everyone’s first language so we try to provide a range of interpreting and translation facilities to meet your needs.
This service is free and available through all customer service centres and other customer service points such as libraries and leisure centres.
Find your nearest customer service centre, library or leisure centre.
If English isn't your main language, you can do a course to help you improve your English. These courses are called ESOL or English for Speakers of Other Languages. Find out more using the link below:

Developed in partnership with Humberside Police Authority, Humberside Police Force, the former NHS East Riding of Yorkshire and Humberside Fire and Rescue Service, the British Sign Language clips show the different services provided by all the organisations so that deaf and hearing impaired residents can access these services.
We currently have three videos, provided by the NHS, available to watch on our YouTube channel:
East Riding Clinical Commissioning Group - British Sign Language (YouTube video, external website)
NHS Help and Support for You - British Sign Language (YouTube video, external website)
NHS Choose Well - British Sign Language (YouTube video, external website)
The following videos are in Windows Media Player format. The sizes of each video are next to the link. Each link will open the video in a new window using Windows Media Player. If you cannot view the videos, please send us an enquiry (opens in new window).
