Care Provider Training
A programme of training is available for all residential care homes and domiciliary care providers with whom the council has a contract. This training complements the mandatory induction training that each provider carries out.

We identify and develop the training programme through our monitoring visits and feedback from the Safeguarding Adults Team and the Care Quality Commission. We work closely with our colleagues in Health to develop training that supports with preventing unnecessary admission to hospital; supporting timely, safe discharge and with caring for people who have a long term condition.

Training is available to all social care providers who have a contract with the council. Some courses, however, are specifically for either residential care homes or domiciliary care providers. The email advertising the course (sent to relevant providers a few weeks before each course) will state which sector the training is aimed at, and the relevant level of delegate to attend eg. Manager or Care Worker.
Some of the training that is offered will be provided to equip one or two members of staff from an organisation to cascade the training to their colleagues. This is known as ‘train the trainer’.
No. The training is offered on a free of charge basis. We will in some cases charge a fee for late cancellation. Details of this charge can be found below.
You can book any course from 6 weeks ahead of the course date. Providers who are eligible to attend a course will be notified when booking opens via email. Each email will also have a name and contact telephone number for enquiries in relation to that course.

If you cancel within 3 working days of a course, or you do not attend, we will in some cases make a £20 charge per delegate, as per our cancellation policy. This charge covers the costs associated with providing the training.
