Reduce your food waste
The average green bin in the East Riding contains about 30% food waste. Putting food waste in your brown bin means it can be sent for composting reducing the cost to the council, and helping the environment.
Each household has received a 7 litre kitchen caddy, along with corn starch bags. Any type of food waste (cooked and uncooked food, peelings, plate scrapings, bones, dairy and egg shells) from your household can go into one of these bags in your caddy. The bags are then tied up and put into your brown bin. This is part of a new scheme which now sees food waste and cardboard collected in your brown bin.
