Details progress made on the Cottingham Neighbourhood Plan and how to get involved.
A public consultation on the Cottingham Neighbourhood Plan and Design Guide is taking place between 22 May - 3 July 2017. The Cottingham Neighbourhood Plan, prepared by Cottingham Parish Council, has been submitted to East Riding of Yorkshire Council for examination. The Council are now required to seek comments on the proposed plan before it is examined by an independent examiner.
Once adopted, the Neighbourhood Plan will provide more locally specific planning policy, detailed advice and guidance for the determination of planning applications in the Cottingham Neighbourhood Area.

You can comment on the submitted Cottingham Neighbourhood Plan and Design guide using the details set out above. Cottingham Parish Council has lead the preparation of their Neighbourhood Development Plan with support from East Riding of Yorkshire Council. If you are interested in being involved you should contact the parish council in the first instance.

No. The East Riding Local Plan will continue to allocate specific sites for development in Cottingham. However, the Neighbourhood Development Plan will include 'concept statements' for each of the allocated sites set out in the East Riding Local Plan to help guide future developers towards a design solution that accords with community aspirations. The Neighbourhood Development Plan will also provide general policies for development in Cottingham and a design guide.
The Cottingham neighbourhood area was formally designated at the council meeting of 12 June 2013. This followed a recommendation by cabinet on 9 April 2013 after a period of public consultation.

Yes. A 6 week consultation on the proposed Cottingham neighbourhood area was held between 7 January and 18 January 2013 so that people living, working and carrying out business in Cottingham could let us know their views on the proposed area. The majority of respondents were supportive of designating the parish boundary as a neighbourhood area. The comments received to the consultation can be found in Appendix B of the Cabinet report, available to download above.
