A Neighbourhood Development Plan is being prepared on behalf of Cottingham Parish Council. A draft plan and design guide has been published for consultation with comments invited to the Parish Council by 10 August 2015. The consultation draft can be viewed on the Parish Council's website.

Cottingham Parish Council will lead the preparation of their Neighbourhood Development Plan with support from East Riding of Yorkshire Council. If you are interested in being involved you should contact the parish council in the first instance.
No. The East Riding Local Plan will continue to allocate specific sites for development in Cottingham. However, the Neighbourhood Development Plan will include 'concept statements' for each of the allocated sites set out in the East Riding Local Plan to help guide future developers towards a design solution that accords with community aspirations. The Neighbourhood Development Plan will also provide general policies for development in Cottingham and a design guide.
The Cottingham neighbourhood area was formally designated at the council meeting of 12 June 2013. This followed a recommendation by cabinet on 9 April 2013 after a period of public consultation.

Yes. A 6 week consultation on the proposed Cottingham neighbourhood area was held between 7 January and 18 January 2013 so that people living, working and carrying out business in Cottingham could let us know their views on the proposed area. The majority of respondents were supportive of designating the parish boundary as a neighbourhood area. The comments received to the consultation can be found in Appendix B of the Cabinet report, available to download above.
