Explains what a conservation area management and maintenance plan is, why is it needed and how it is monitored.
The draft Conservation Area Management Plan and Maintenance Plan for Bridlington Quay conservation area outlines the ways in which the council will seek to manage and improve the conservation area.
The conservation area management plan sets out:
Conservation areas are intended to preserve and enhance the special interest of a place. East Riding of Yorkshire Council aims to provide for the positive management of these unique areas. Bridlington Quay conservation area is currently categorised as ‘at risk’ by Historic England and it is a key aim that the conservation area is removed from the risk register. As part of the council’s commitment to improving Bridlington Quay Conservation Area we have drafted a management plan and maintenance plan.
Whilst the council is responsible for many policy areas that affect the conservation area, local communities also have a role to play, whether property owners and tenants that wish to make changes to their building, or members of the public interested in the character of the area. We are therefore seeking comments on this draft document.
We will collect all the comments made about the draft Management and Maintenance Plan and take them into consideration when finalising the document. It will then be considered by the Cabinet in early 2016.
The council intends to review the Management and Maintenance Plan on an initially annual basis, reducing to every three years as the area improves.
