How can I check if my street is in a CPZ or RPS?

You can check if your street has recently been added to the  Beverley CPZ or you can  view maps of the CPZs or  view a list of the RPSs in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

How do I renew a CPZ residents parking permit?

If you already have a Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) permit, you can renew and pay for it online using the new MiPermit virtual (paperless) permit system online. 

Please make sure you have your council tax reference and debit or credit card to hand when applying to renew your permit.

If you haven't already registered you'll need to register first following the steps below:

  • Go to the MiPermit website using the link below:     

Register with MiPermit (external website)     

  • Click the 'Register/Login' link at the top of the screen  
  • Under 'Register for Free' then 'Select a Portal' make sure 'MiPermit Global Portal' is selected on the drop down menu.  
  • Click the 'Register Now' button  
  • Click on the 'Virtual Permits' link (you may have to scroll down the page)  
  • Click on the 'East Riding of Yorkshire Council' link (you may have to scroll down the page)  
  • Click on the 'Residents Permits' link  
  • Follow the onscreen prompts to register and buy or renew a permit 


If you've already registered you can just go to the MiPermit website using the link above and log in to buy or renew your permit.

How do I buy a new CPZ residents parking permit?

You can apply for a new parking permit using the new MiPermit virtual (paperless) permit system online.

How do I buy visitor scratch cards?

For residents with a parking permit

If you already hold a resident’s parking permit for your own vehicle(s), or a registration card, you can buy scratch cards by:

  • visiting Beverley, Bridlington or Howden customer service centre with your permit or registration card. You can take the scratch cards home the same day.

Unfortunately, this cannot be done online.

Each book contains 10 scratch cards and costs £10. Each household is entitled to five books of scratch cards per year. 

For residents without a parking permit

If you don't hold a resident’s parking permit (because you don't have a vehicle which requires parking), you must first buy a registration card for £15 using the following application form:

and  return it to us with your payment.

You will then be issued with a registration card, entitling you to buy scratch cards.

How do I buy a carers permit?

You can apply to buy a carers permit using the below application form:

Either the person receiving care or the carer can complete the form. 

The person receiving care needs: 

  • a letter from Children, Family and Adult Services section of East Riding of Yorkshire Council confirming that you are receiving care. Contact the council on (01482) 393939.
  • proof of address 

Or, the carer needs: 

  • a letter from Children, Family and Adult Services section of East Riding of Yorkshire Council confirming that you are registered to administer care. Contact the council on (01482) 393939.
  • proof of vehicle registration or hire.

How do I buy a contractors permit?

Contractor permits for the Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) may be provided to enable company vehicles to be parked in a permitted parking bay where there are ‘Except Resident Permit Holders’ signs. These may only be issued when it is essential that contractors’ vehicles are parked close by to allow access to heavy tools and other bulky equipment throughout the day whilst working at a property within the CPZ.

You can now purchase a one day and one week virtual contractor permit or renew an existing virtual contractor permit instantly online using the MiPermit virtual (paperless) contractor permit system. The virtual system can be accessed 24 hours a day and changes may then be made at your convenience.

Register with MiPermit (external website)    

One day and one week permits can also be issued by the Customer Service Centre (CSC) at Beverley and Bridlington, payment may be made by cash, cheque or debit/credit card. 

Monthly and yearly permit applications can only be submitted to the CSC which will then be forwarded to the Permit Office for approval.

Alternatively the application can be posted to Permits, PO Box 299, Beverley, HU17 6FH.  An authorisation number will be issued by phone on 01482 395411 and the permit may be collected from the CSC on receipt of payment should the application be successful.

All applicants must provide proof of the business together with a copy of their Professional Indemnity Insurance or Public Liability Insurance in the name of the business stated and also the following:

  • Confirmation of the nature of your Business (for example, letterhead, invoice)
  • Company Registration Number

How do I buy hotel, guest house and B&B scratchcards?

You must first buy a registration card for £15:

You will then be issued with a registration card, entitling you to buy scratch cards.

Each virtual permit can have two vehicles registered to it and there is no cost to add an additional vehicle to a permit. However, you are only entitled to park one vehicle per permit in the CPZ area at a time. If you need to park two vehicles in the CPZ area at the same time you must purchase a second permit. 

If you have a paper permit, it must be switched between vehicles parking in the permit zone.

Please note: The council does not make money from fees. The money raised is used to employ Civil Enforcement Officers who prevent long stay parking in CPZ areas, thus allowing residents to park near their homes.

How do I submit my application and pay?

Residents

Residents can apply online via the new MiPermit virtual (paperless) permit system.

For all other types of permits

When filling in the application form please ensure you:

  • write clearly in black ink 
  • block capitals 
  • tick all the relevant boxes 
  • enclose the correct proof(s) of eligibility 
  • enclose payment.

You may wish to post your application via a 'signed for' service to ensure its safe arrival. Your local Post Office will be able to help you with this:

We will return your permit and documents to you by normal post.

Submit and pay in person

You can also take your application to your local  customer service centre.

Your payment can be made by:

  • cash 
  • postal orders 
  • cheque (made payable to 'ERYC') 
  • or by credit card (no fee applied) or debit card (not American Express or Diners Cards).  

 

Online permits are effective immediately and no temporary permit is needed.

If applying in person for a permit (not scratch cards), you may ask for a 14 day temporary parking permit to allow parking within the CPZ whilst your application is processed.

When will I receive my permit?

Residents 

Residents will not receive a paper permit as the new MiPermit system is paperless.

For all other types of permit

If your application was filled out correctly, the permit will take about 10 days to arrive and can only be posted to the address on the application form.

For new permits

If you have not filled in the application properly or have not enclosed copies of the relevant documents, we will return your form. This will cause a delay in issuing your permit.

Temporary permit

If your need your new permit urgently, or your existing permit is about to expire, you take your application form to your local  customer service centre instead of posting it, you can have a 14 day temporary permit.

How do I change the details on my virtual permit (e.g. name, address, vehicle)?

For changes to your address please telephone the virtual permit helpline on 0345 520 7007

For all other changes: 

  • go to the MiPermit website and click the 'Register/Login' link at the top of the screen and log in to your account 
  • go to the members section and select your name 
  • this will open a sub-menu where you can edit your name, vehicle, mobile number or email address as required.

How do I change the details on my paper permit (e.g. name, address, vehicle)?

Change name and/or address

If you move home and/or change your name within the same CPZ you need to inform us so that we can update our records. You will be issued with a new paper permit. You must complete the following application form:

and return your application to us with your current permit and one proof of eligibility as listed on the application form.

Please note: As you will be without a permit whilst a new one is being issued, you can take your application to a  customer service centre so a 14 day temporary permit can be issued the same day. If you do not do this, you may be issued a parking fine for not having a valid permit.

Change vehicle – permanently

If you have changed your vehicle (owned or leased) do not alter your existing permit, instead you will need to complete the following application form:

and  return your application to us with your current permit, together with one of the following:

  • a V5C Vehicle Registration Number, or
  • a sales invoice together with insurance documents (showing your name/company name, vehicle registration number and your address).  

Please note: As you will be without a permit whilst a new one is being issued, you can take your application to a  customer service centre so a 14 day temporary permit can be issued the same day. If you do not do this, you may be issued a parking fine for not having a valid permit.

Change vehicle - temporarily

If your vehicle is off the road because of an accident/major repair or if it has been stolen, we can issue you a 14 day temporary permit for a shared, borrowed or leased vehicle.

You can only get one of these temporary permits by visiting your local  customer service centre. If you are still in possession of your original permit you must take it, along with a letter from the garage or insurance company to confirm the damage, major repair or theft. 

Please note: You must display both the temporary permit and your normal permit (unless it was stolen with your vehicle) in the temporary vehicle.

Can I get a new paper permit if it has been lost or stolen?

If your paper parking permit is lost or stolen you should report it to the police who will issue you with a crime/lost property reference number. This number will enable you to get a replacement permit for free.
