Our coastline - working with others

How does the council work with others to protect our coastline?

The council is currently developing a Coastal Partnership for the East Riding area that will build on the previous work of the East Riding Coastal Forum. The Forum was part of an Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) approach, which was taken forward through the Integrated Coastal Zone Management Plan. The aim is that the Coastal Forum will meet in early 2013 to start the process of establishing the Coastal Partnership. The Coastal Partnership will build upon the joint working that took place throughout the development of the Shoreline Management Plan (SMP).

The council also works in partnership with others to help address the particular challenges posed by some parts of our coastline. For example the council is a partner within the Humber and Flamborough Management Schemes. These have been established to meet the statutory requirements to manage sites designated under the Habitats Regulations.
