Council tax appeals

How can I make an appeal against my council tax liability?

You can make an appeal if you think there is a mistake in your bill, for example, you might think that you are not liable to pay the bill or you feel that you are entitled to a discount or exemption.

If you disagree with the amount of council tax that you are being charged, please contact the customer service centre using the general enquiry form on the right hand side of the page, and tell us the reason why this is the case.

Please note that making an appeal against your liability to pay does not allow you to withhold payment of your council tax instalments. You should continue to pay as normal until your appeal is resolved.
