When can I enrol for a course?

Enrolment is generally not available once the course has started so please enrol before the start of term to avoid disappointment. Courses with low numbers prior to the start date may be cancelled, and all those who have enrolled will be informed of the cancellation, and offered advice on how to enrol on an alternative course, or refunded if applicable.

When I enrol, what documents do I need to bring with me?

At the time of enrolment, or before the start of the course, all learners will need to produce proof of their identity to an adult education centre.  Acceptable proof includes: driving licence, National Insurance card, passport, credit/debit card or photo ID card.

Do I get a refund if I leave the course?

Courses may be closed or combined if learner numbers fall below the point at which the course is financially viable. Learner numbers need to remain viable throughout the course and we reserve the right to close or combine classes in subsequent terms (if applicable).

Learners will be contacted if the course is to be cancelled prior to the first session and full fees refunded.  If the course closes after the first session you will be signposted to any suitable alternative courses. If an alternative course is not available, you will be offered a full refund. Please assume that a course will run unless you are contacted.

Once the course has started, refunds will only be given if the course is cancelled by the service.  If you enrol on a course and withdraw before it starts, without informing the adult education centre, you will not be entitled to a refund.

If you need to pay in instalments due to your financial circumstances, please speak to a member of staff in the adult education centre running your course to discuss what arrangements can be made.

What information do I receive when I enrol for a course?

When you enrol for a course the adult education centre will give you a pre-course sheet which will give you all the information you need for that course.

If I enrol for an exam-based course, when will the exam take place?

The examination dates and times are coordinated by individual examination boards and not by East Riding of Yorkshire Council Adult Education Service. This may result in your exam being held on a different day and time from your normal class. You may therefore be expected to attend during the day, even if your class normally takes place on an evening.
