We offer a variety of courses that run at different times throughout the academic year. Some of the courses on offer for 2012/13 include:
Art, crafts, cake decoration/sugarcraft, creative writing, flower arranging, interior design/textiles, music, photography, pottery/ceramics
- Drawing and Painting - Step 1 - an introductory course for beginners who wish to gain the basic skills and knowledge of painting and drawing, using a range of subjects and media
- Drawing and Painting - Step 2 - this progression route from step 1 will enable you to gain further skills and knowledge, which will enable you specialise in a range of subjects and media e.g. mixed media, acrylic, pastel etc.

NEW - Drawing and Painting Workshop - this is a 2 day course, running one weekend each month, with different techniques being explored.

NEW - Drawing and Painting Creative Techniques - Human Figure
- Life Drawing Step 1 - an introduction to life drawing and the techniques involved
- Life Drawing Step 2 - this progression route from step 1 will enable you to gain further skills and knowledge in life drawing, enabling you to specialise in one or more techniques e.g. Tonal/Linear representation of the whole body, working from a live model
- Life Drawing Step 3 - this advanced course is for those learners who have progressed through steps 1 and 2, and will enable them to focus on observation skills along with advancing their technical skills in the use of their chosen media

NEW - Life Drawing Workshop Step 2 - working with pen to build up tonal effects

NEW - Life Drawing Workshop Step 3 - the techniques and methods of using oil pastel

NEW - L2 Certificate in Creative Techniques - using drawing, painting and mixed media. This course will also include 4 full day art experiences at local venues. Details will be given by the course tutor.

NEW - Craft and Design Ascentis Entry 3 Award - an entry level award in craft skills and design techniques
- Craft and Design Ascentis Level 1 Certificate - this Level 1 accredited course is designed to be practically based to enable learners to further their skills and abilities in a range of art and craft subjects and media, and learners will produce a portfolio of work to gain a Level 1 qualification

NEW - Craft and Design Ascentis Level 2 Certificate - learners will combine research skills and craft skills to research sources of inspiration for the development of a craft design. You will then use your craft skills to design and make the craft item the review the finished product.

- Cake Decoration and Sugarcraft - an Introduction - a basic course which will enable you to gain practical skills and knowledge in decorating and making seasonal items using sugar paste
- Cake Decoration and Sugarcraft Step 1 - a basic course which will enable you to gain practical skills and knowledge in decorating and making seasonal items using sugar paste.
- Sugarcraft Certificate level 1 - this accredited level 1 course will give you the opportunity to gain skills and practical experience in a range of sugarcraft subjects
- Sugarcraft Certificate level 2 - this accredited level 2 course is a good progression from level 1 Certificate, and will enable you to further explore and broaden your range of skills and practical experiences in sugarcraft

- Creative Writing Step 1 - a basic course which will enable you to gain knowledge, understanding and practical skills which will enable you to produce short stories, poetry and other forms of creative writing

- Flower Arranging Step 1 - an introductory course for beginners who wish to gain the basic skills and knowledge of flower arranging, using a range of skills and techniques

- Textiles and Home Interiors - learners on this course will learn how to re-invent, improve or re-use fabrics and materials to make/upgrade or give new life to their wardrobe or home furnishings.

- Guitar (Acoustic/Electric) Step 1 - this course will introduce the learner to practical guitar playing techniques and skills, using acoustic/electric
- Guitar (Acoustic/Electric) Step 2 - this course will enable you to further your practical guitar playing techniques and skills, using acoustic/electric
- NEW - Creative Music Techniques, including a free taster session - you will learn how to mix tracks and edit sound. Suitable for beginners.
- NEW - The Music Business, including a free taster session - you will learn about the music industry, how it works and what jobs are in the sector. Suitable for beginners.

- Digital Photography for Beginners - covers basic principles of digital photography using the features available on most modern day digital cameras or mobile phone cameras; includes how to download images from a camera or mobile phone camera to a PC and memory stick/flash drive and basics of picture editing. NEW - Digital Photography and Image Editing - one day workshop, hands on creative course to improve and enhance your skills
- Photography and Photo Imaging C&G Certificate Level 1 - this level 1 accredited practical course is an introduction to the skills and knowledge required for basic photography using a digital camera and photo imaging
- Photography and Photo Imaging C&G Certificate Level 2 - you should have completed the level 1 course before enrolling on this level 2, which will give you a broader range of practical skills and knowledge of photo imaging
- Photography Certificate in Specialist Photography and Photo Imaging - Level 3

- Pottery and Ceramics Step 2 - this level 2 course will enable you to specialise in the production of ceramics/pottery items and will broaden your practical skills, technical knowledge and understanding of the subject
- Pottery and Ceramics Step 3 - this advanced course will enable learners who have progressed through levels 1 and 2 to specialise in their development of a particular subject/media/technique in the production of ceramic/pottery objects

There are eight main adult education centres around the East Riding of Yorkshire and many of our courses are taught in these centres. Throughout the year we also use over 100 additional external venues for courses so there should usually be a venue close to you that will have something run by the adult education service.
