How do I make a complaint about my child's school?

It is best if you can resolve any concerns directly with the school by talking to your child's teacher, head of year or headteacher. If you feel that you complaint has not been resolved to your satisfaction then you need to write to the chair of governors of the school. You can ask the school's administrator for the school's policy on complaints.

How do I complain to the governors of the school?

You must first go through the complaints procedure of the school. This can be accessed by making a request to the school. If you have been through the complaints procedure and not received a satisfactory resolution you can then complain to the governors.

Most schools include the names of their governors on their school website. Should anyone wish to contact a member of the school's governing body they should do so in writing through the school. The school will treat your complaint in confidence and simply pass on to the governing body on your behalf.
