What are the Christmas opening times for the archives service?

The Archives Service opening times for the Christmas period will be as follows:

  • Wednesday, 24 December 2014 - will close at 4pm
  • Thursday, 25 December 2014 - closed
  • Friday, 26 December 2014 - closed
  • Saturday, 27 December 2014 - open as normal
  • Sunday, 28 December 2014 - closed
  • Monday, 29 December 2014 - closed
  • Tuesday, 30 December 2014 - closed
  • Wednesday, 31 December 2014 - closed
  • Thursday, 1 January 2015 - closed

Normal opening hours will resume from Friday, 2 January 2015.

Where can I find the archives service?

The archives, family and local history service is in the  Treasure House

It is about 10 minutes walk from the railway and bus stations. You can use the Traveline Yorkshire Journey Planner website to plan your journey, or if you know the number of the bus you can look up its timetable.

When is the archives service open?


Our opening hours are:


  • Monday 9.30am – 5pm
  • Tuesday 9.30am – 8pm
  • Wednesday 9.30am – 5pm
  • Thursday 9.30am – 8pm
  • Friday 9.30am – 5pm
  • Saturday 9am – 4pm

Where do I park?


There is no on-site parking on weekdays at the Treasure House.


The closest car park is in Grayburn Lane off Lairgate, but other public car parks can be found by using the car park finder.


On a Saturday, the car park behind the Treasure House is open for you to use. It is a pay and display car park, and disabled spaces are available.

What is your disabled access? 


All public areas of the Treasure Houseare accessible to wheelchairs, including the research room and toilets.


  • The research room desk has a hearing loop installed.
  • There are six disabled parking spaces located at the Treasure House.
  • There is a lift to the coffee lounge and galleries on the first floor.
