Mondays

Bounce and Rhyme. For pre-school children. 11 - 11.30am
Experts have discovered that if a child knows eight nursery rhymes by heart by the time they are four years old, they are usually among the best at reading and spelling in their class by the time they are in Year 3. Enjoy sharing songs and rhymes with your pre-school children in a group setting, and help increase their language concentration and listening skills in these fun sessions. No need to book, just come along. 


Wednesdays

Knit and Natter. First and third Wednesday of the month. 1.30 - 3pm 
Library knitting groups offer improved health and wellbeing and a lively group of new friends for all ages and abilities. Did you know knitting has therapeutic qualities similar to meditation? Research shows it can help prevent and manage stress and pain. No need to book, just come along and join our friendly group

Adult Book Club. Second Wednesday of the month. 2 - 3pm
Reading can reduce stress by 68% and risk of dementia by 35%. Broaden your horizons, meet like-minded people and explore the fascinating world of literature. Suitable for all adults and ability levels. Contact Market Weighton Library at The Wicstun Centre 01482 393939 to check availability.

Reminiscence. *Starts 25th April. Last Wednesday of the month. 2 - 3pm. 
Take a trip down memory lane at your local East Riding Library. Use our great range of memory boxes containing items such as photographs, books and even food packaging to relive the sights and sounds of days gone by. Reminiscence is a social group for older people to meet new friends and have fun sharing stories. Reminiscence is also proven to be beneficial for those living with Dementia and their carers, and is endorsed by the Alzheimer’s society. Disabled access is available at this venue. Places are limited and booking is essential so please phone Wicstun Centre (01482) 393939 for availability.

Chatterbooks. For children aged 7 - 12. Third Wednesday of the month. 4 - 4.45pm.
Join in our popular reading group for primary school children, to talk about what you are reading, take part in fun activities inspired by the best children's books, and choose new books to take home and read. Did you know, children who read for enjoyment do better at school? No need to book, just come along.


Fridays

Family History Group. Second Friday of the month. 10.30am - 12noon  
A volunteer led group for all researchers of family and local history. Join the group to meet other family history researchers and use Ancestry.com for free. This is a free event for adults 16 years and above. No booking required, just turn up on the day. Full disabled access and facilities are available at this venue.

By bus - the library is four minutes walk from bus stops on Southgate and High Street.

Parking - there is a car park behind the library with two disabled parking spaces.
