We run a number of activities for children and young people during the holiday's and this is part of the council's 'School's Out' programme. The aim of the programme is to help parents and carers get organised for the long summer break whilst encouraging young people to keep active during the summer holidays.
You can search, book and pay for activities using the online events calendar. We also produce a handy, 32 page A5 publication that is delivered in July, direct to over 20,000 homes of primary school aged children, and 11-13 year olds who attend schools in the East Riding.
Copies are made available at various council outlets including customer service centres, libraries, leisure centres and schools from the beginning of July.
For more information, please visit the FISH section of the website.

Bursting with fun and laughter, the community play rangers give children the space, time, freedom, permission to make noise, explore and take risks at fun sessions around the East Riding.
Activities on offer might include face painting, football, art and crafts, circus skills, dodgeball, tattoo making, etc. They give children the chance to try new activities that they wouldn’t necessary have the opportunity to do at home or school such as messy play, digging or taking electrical equipment apart!

Positive Futures is the national activity-based social inclusion programme for young people aged 10 to 19.
The programme uses sport as a diversionary tool taking a developmental approach to helping young people from deprived communities steer clear of crime, drug and alcohol misuse and move forward with their lives. At its heart is a strong shared commitment to reaching young people where they are, building relationships of respect and trust, and developing skills needed to get on a positive career path and take on roles as active and responsible citizens.
The East Riding Positive Futures Project delivers in four areas across the area. They are Beverley, Bridlington, Goole and Withernsea.
The project operates three initiatives in each area. This includes:
-
working with schools during curriculum time providing opportunities to gain accreditation with selected groups of pupils who are deemed to be at risk of exclusion;
-
community sports based sessions which are open to all young people at various locations across the four areas - more information on community based sessions, please search our events calendar;
-
providing one to one support sessions for young people who are referred directly to us from agencies such as youth offending team and family support.
