The Treasure House is a one-stop centre for heritage and information services, providing access to museum, library and archive services under one roof. The tower also offers superb views of Beverley.
State-of-the-art environmentally controlled stores hold the collections of the East Riding Archives, Local Studies, Beverley Art Gallery, Beverley Guildhall and the archaeology of the Museums Service.
The Treasure House was completed in 2007 and was made possible through a grant of £3.9m from the Heritage Lottery Fund, for which East Riding is very grateful.

There is no on-site parking during the day at the Treasure House, you should park in one of the public car parks in Beverley. The closest car park is in Grayburn Lane off Lairgate.

Admission to all areas of the Treasure House is free, but there may be individual charges for some of the organised events.

- There is a lift to the first floor, which also goes to the top of the tower for views over Beverley and the Minster.
- The toilets are located on the ground floor.
- The archive research room desk has a hearing loop installed.
- There are six disabled parking spaces located at the Treasure House.

Ground floor
Archives and Local Studies
As you enter the main entrance of the Treasure House, you will see the research room of the East Riding archives, and local studies in front of you. Here you have access to all of the books, microfiche resources, archive newspapers, documents, pictures and rare books of the East Riding. Experienced archivists are also on hand to help you with your searches. To the left of the research room, there is the conservation workshop where large gallery windows allow you to watch the conservators restoring pictures, books and other documents. Corridor displays
If you turn to your right at the main entrance, there is a corridor leading to the Beverley library. As you walk along the corridor, you will see noticeboards on your right where posters and information sheets are displayed. The toilets and lockers to use when visiting the archive research room are also located on your right.
On your left there is an area for changing displays. These may be planning applications or small exhibitions from some of the East Riding museums. Alongside the ramp to the library there are often displays from local colleges.
It is worth checking back here regularly to see if there is anything new on display.
Beverley Library
At the end of the corridor is the Beverley library. Here you can get access to all the library resources including the lending and reference libraries, computers, newspapers and children's area. Much more information on the library services is available by going to libraries.
First floor
The gift shop
On the first floor you will first see the reception desk for the museum and art gallery and the gift shop.
Museum galleries
If you pass the reception desk to your left and go through the double doors, you will find the museum display of 'East Riding Treasures'. In addition to displays on the geology, natural history, landscape and people, you will find the South Cave Weapons Cache, a nationally important display of Iron Age swords. In this gallery, there are also interactive activities for children, including puzzles, dressing-up costumes and a drawing table.
Immediately in front of you as you enter the gallery, there is the Archives' Document of the Month showcase.
Returning back to the corridor, there is a gallery of temporary museum displays. Here there are frequently-changing displays of East Riding local history, often prepared by local community groups, or touring exhibitions from national museums or galleries. Again it is worth checking here regularly to see if there is anything new. More information about the exhibition programme in this gallery is available by going to museum at the Treasure House.
Champney coffee lounge
Along the exhibition corridor is the coffee Lounge, part of the exhibition displays often extend into the coffee lounge so you can enjoy the displays while you enjoy your refreshments. There is also a display case showing archaeology displays or recent acquisitions to the museum collections.
Beverley Art Gallery
Leaving the coffee lounge and exhibition gallery, you will find the Beverley Art Gallery The first of the two galleries displays pictures from the permanent collection. There is also a display chest which displays smaller themed collections. One of the main pictures on permanent display here is The Panic, which is the world's largest cattle painting!
The second of the two galleries has temporary art displays. These may be collections from local artists, touring national exhibitions or displays from amateur art groups. Both galleries have activities for children; more information on these is available from the Learning Resources section of the website.
The tower
Returning back to the lift and stairs, you can go up to the top of the tower where there are 360 degree views over the roof tops of Beverley and towards the Minster. This gives a different perspective on the town and is well worth a visit.
Events and activities
There is an active programme of events and activities associated with many aspects of the Treasure House. These can range from family history days in the archives, reading sessions in the library, talks and lectures in the museum or previews in the art gallery, to themed activity days or children's drop-in days.
