Home safety service

What is the home safety service?

The home safety service exists to protect and support older and vulnerable people by enabling them to live at home independently in a safe and secure environment.

We work in partnership with the health authority, Humberside fire and rescue, Humberside police, lifeline service, carer support service and many other agencies that work with elderly or disabled people.

The home safety service is based within the Lifeline team.

We can:

  • carry out a free home safety check in your home to identify hazards that may cause a trip or fall and give you safety equipment that will help to prevent a fall;
  • give advice on how to prevent falls;
  • discuss security and fire safety issues or concerns;
  • refer to fire service for a free home fire safety check;
  • and refer to falls clinic for professional health advice and therapist treatment.

You can request a Home Safety Service visit online (opens in new window), or telephone (01482) 396355.
