Adoption and fostering

Woman and child

Adoption is a way of providing a new family for a child when it has not been possible to be brought up by their birth family. Adopting a child is mutually rewarding and great fun, as well as being hard work and a big responsibility.

Fostering is about looking after children when they are not able to live at home for a variety of reasons. Some children may only need to be fostered for a weekend and others may need to be looked after until they are adult.

"The feeling that you've made a difference in the life of a kid, who just needed someone to be there for them, is incredible."  Wendy, foster carer
