The Nationality Checking Service is provided by some councils. We can accept and
forward your application for British citizenship to the Home Office. We will ensure
that your form is correctly completed, and will copy your documents and return them to you. We will ensure that your application is correctly submitted and that the
requirements for citizenship are met.

We offer this service from our registration offices at Cottingham, Goole and Beverley. Anyone living in any district can use any of the nationality document checking centres throughout the country.

We will charge you a fee of £55 per adult application £35 per child application.
Please note that these fees are in addition to the normal fee you must pay to the
Home Office on processing your application for nationality. Home Office fees
may be paid by card or cheque (made payable to the accounting officer at Home
Office). We cannot send cash to the Home Office. We regret that we cannot make appointments where no deposit is paid in advance and we cannot refund the fee if you do not attend your appointment.

properly. We cannot give immigration advice or act for you after you have made
your application.

The service is run on an appointment basis. When making your appointment you
will be asked for details of your name and address and contact number, your Life in
the United Kingdom test identification number and a 50 percent deposit payment to secure your appointment date and time.

During the appointment we will check that:
- you are sending the correct fee to the Home Office
- all the right documents are enclosed
- we will photocopy your passports, travel documents and any other documents requested by the Home Office and certify that they are true copies
- we will inform you of any outstanding documents required and hold your application until it is fully completed before sending the Home Office
- we will send your completed application, certified photocopies of your passports and all other documents and fees to the Home Office
- we will return passports and other documents to you at the end of your appointment

Yes a husband and wife can apply and attend the appointment together.
If making a joint application all persons over the age of 18 years who are applying for British citizenship must attend the NCS appointment.

Once we have sent your application, all enquiries about your application should be
made directly to the Home Office. We will give you a special delivery reference
number. Use this to confirm the delivery of your application. You can do this by
searching your reference number on the Royal Mail website.

You will receive an automatic invitation to attend a citizenship ceremony in the
district where you live. However, you may attend any other district for your
ceremony. Please make your selection when completing your application form which is available on the Home Office UK Border Agency website. You can choose which statement is appropriate to what you are applying for.
