The bus pass is available to:

A person having a learning disability

Blind or partially sighted

Profoundly or severely deaf

A person who is medically unfit to drive on grounds other than those of persistent misuse of drugs or alcohol

A person without speech which includes those unable to communicate orally in any language

A person who has a disability or has suffered an injury which has a substantial and long term adverse effect on their ability to walk (read about applying for a disabled person's travel pass)
People with mental health problems are not eligible for a pass unless they are medically unfit to drive.
Disabled applicants must be of fare paying age, so children can apply for these passes.
Evidence will be required of a person’s eligibility, for a person of pensionable age this will be proof of age and proof of residency in the East Riding. For applications other than on the grounds of age, proof of disability will be required.
Eligible applicants who reside on a caravan site within the East Riding may apply for a pass, providing this is their primary residence and that they reside there for longer than 6 months in any 12 month period.

You can apply for your national bus pass at any customer service centre, library or mobile library. Alternatively, please contact us (01482) 395531 and we will post a form to you. Upon completion you will need to return it to either a customer service centre, library or mobile library with the required supporting information below.

You will also need to:
- supply a passport sized photograph.
- provide proof of age (for example, birth certificate, pension card, driving licence or passport).
- provide proof of residence (for example, driving licence, rent book, bank statement, council tax or utility bill).
Your pass will be sent to your home address at no charge.
If you are unable to attend in person your spouse may submit the application on your behalf, providing the proof of eligibility includes a photograph which clearly matches the photograph supplied for your bus pass. However, this will be at the discretion of the issuing officer.

You can use your pass on all local bus services in England between 9.30am and 11.00pm Monday to Friday and at all times on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays.
You can use your pass on local bus services in London, however, passes are not accepted on buses in Scotland or Wales.
If you are travelling outside the East Riding you are subject to the conditions of the Council where your journey starts. Some may allow travel before 9.30am and travel on trains, but you would need to check with them before making your journey.

Replacement passes will be posted to your home address.
