East Riding of Yorkshire Council's employment and skills team has recently launched Active8 to boost 18-24 year olds' chances of finding work.
The new programme will run at centres across the East Riding (Cottingham, Bridlington and Goole) and is a seven-week programme which aims to give candidates insider tips on what employers are looking for in the recruitment process: how to perform at interview; working in a team; selling yourself effectively; and expert assistance on where to look and apply for jobs.
Active8 is available to people who are between 18 and 24 and who have been claiming JSA (Jobseekers' Allowance) or ESA (Employment Support Allowance). Anyone who is interested should speak to their Jobcentre Plus adviser who will be able to discuss eligibility and referral onto the programme.
Sara Arnold, East Riding of Yorkshire Council's employment and skills manager, said: "Active8 aims to help you succeed. Our advice to all jobseekers is that there is lots of help out there to get you into work, so take all the help that you can get! Our courses are interactive and fun and we have proven experience of getting people into jobs."
The programme is funded by Jobcentre Plus.
