New motorcycle parking bays for rail users at Brough Railway Station

East Riding of Yorkshire Council, in partnership with First TransPennine Express, has installed six new motorcycle parking bays at Brough railway station to provide a safe and secure location for motorcyclists to park their bikes at the station.

Funding has come from the government-supported Local Transport Plan (LTP).  The latest LTP includes a rail strategy which supports and promotes more travel by train.  A key part of this is the development of rail station travel plans for each of the main railway stations in the East Riding, produced in partnership with First TransPennine Express and Northern Rail, which identify actions to improve accessibility to and from stations and help to promote more train use in the area.

Councillor Christopher Matthews, the Council’s portfolio holder for infrastructure, highways and emergency planning, said: "The Council is working in partnership with rail companies to support and promote more journeys by train in the East Riding.

“This facility at Brough Rail Station will provide secure parking for motorcyclists using the station and adds to additional cycle and car parking already provided. We want to make it as easy as possible for people to use the train as an alternative to the car for longer journeys, saving carbon and reducing congestion on our busy roads."
